The Caribbean coast of Honduras is often exposed to tropical hurricanes. Between August and November, hurricane season in the Atlantic is in full swing. September, October, and November are considered to be the most dangerous months. During this period the conditions become more favourable for a tropical storm to form off the coast of this part of the continent. According to statistics, strong hurricanes in Honduras happen only every 25 years. That means that the chances that your vacation will be spoiled by a natural disaster are rather low. Passenger cruise ships continue visiting the Bay Islands during the whole storm season as they are off the hurricane path.
