This amateur 30-km regatta attracts 8,000 rowers and 2,000 boats from across the globe, converging in Venice to traverse the traditional Vogalonga course.

The 48th Vogalonga will commence at 9:00, with the traditional cannon shot signaling the start. Membership is inclusive and welcomes individuals of all genders aged sixteen and above. Minors under 16 may join if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Registration for the event will commence on April 25th and conclude on May 16th, 2024. The entrance fee is €25. Route of Regatta

The departure unfolds amidst the grandeur of the San Marco Basin. Passing by Sant'Elena Island, the journey meanders through a tapestry of islands: Vignole, the lush vegetable gardens of Sant'Erasmo, and San Francesco del Deserto. Soon, the vibrant houses of Burano come into view, followed by Mazzorbo and the monastery islet of San Giacomo in Paludo. Continuing towards Murano, renowned for its glass artistry, the route navigates its Grand Canal. The culmination takes place in the historic setting of the Grand Canal, winding through the Cannaregio Canal and concluding at Punta della Dogana, facing the splendid backdrop of Piazza San Marco.

The History of Vogalonga

Vogalonga's origins trace back to a friendly regatta among "mascarete" on St. Martin's Day in 1974, conceived by Venetian rowing enthusiasts to revive local traditions and combat the city's decay. The inaugural event on January 26, 1975, united rowing enthusiasts and old rowers in defense of Venice, marking the birth of a movement that transformed rowing in the lagoon city. The first Vogalonga, held during the "Sensa" celebration on May 8, 1975, attracted 500 boats and 1,500 participants, showcasing Venice's cultural heritage and environmental charm.
