Balloons Over Vermilion is a yearly festival held at Vermilion Regional Airport in Danville, Illinois, during the summer. Experience the breathtaking sight of more than 30 colorful hot air balloons soaring across the skies of Vermilion County. This event, now in its 8th year, offers exciting activities like Balloon Fly-Outs, Tethered Rides, and Balloon School, along with a variety of food vendors, live music, and other attractions for the whole family to enjoy!
Schedule of the Festival
The festival gates open at 3 pm on both days of the Balloons Over Vermilion. Each night, there will be spectacular nightly fly-outs and Balloon Glows. Tethered rides will also be offered between 7 and 10:30 pm, priced at $15 for adults and $10 for kids, subject to weather conditions. On Saturday, July 12th, Balloons Over Vermilion will host a Balloon School. The school focuses on providing kids and their parents with comprehensive information and hands-on experience to develop a basic understanding of all aspects of ballooning.
Entertainment
Balloons Over Vermilion also features live music at the Beer Tent. Friday's lineup includes The Filthy Janes, Tom Grassman Band, 90s Daughter, and Big Guns. On Saturday, attendees can enjoy performances by Crozier & Co, Tom Grassman Band, Millgan, and Red Pop Fury. Food vendors offer a variety of options, including ice cream trucks, BBQs, tacos, and pretzels.
Kids Zone
The Kids Zone offers a range of activities available throughout both days, including Touch A Truck, a Soccer Area hosted by the Danville Area Soccer Association featuring various activities, goals, and free play opportunities. There's also the Family Entertainment Stage, Joyful Bubbles, and Free Lawn Games like Twister, Jenga, and Kerplunk. For thrill-seekers, there's Ziplining, Extreme Air excitement, and a challenging Rock Climbing Wall. Additionally, there are Inflatables and Laser Tag available for $5 per person.
Tickets & Parking
Admission to the event costs $5 per person, with children aged ten and under admitted for free with each paying adult. Parking fees are $5 per vehicle and $25 for RVs. Please note that a limited number of RV spots are available on-site, and these spots do not offer utilities or water hookups. Visitors are advised to bring cash, as payment is accepted in cash only.
