The King's Cup Super 8 Tournament is a celebrated annual Muay Thai event held on December 5 to honor Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Eight fighters compete in a one-day, single-elimination format, with the champion winning three matches in a single day. Festivities extend over a week, featuring Muay Thai demonstrations, an amateur tournament, a Ladies Super 8 competition, and a youth exhibition, all to pay tribute to the King's legacy and Thailand's national sport.
In honor of the King's Cup tradition, related Muay Thai events and commemorative matches continue independently, especially on Thailand's national holiday, December 5—Father's Day. On this day, families honor the legacy of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. IFMA, alongside AMTAT, PAT, the Ministry of Sport, and the Sports Authority of Thailand organizes an international Muay Thai event featuring 12 thrilling male and female bouts. Athletes worldwide compete for the prestigious King's and Queen's Cups, awarded to two outstanding fighters, celebrating both Thai heritage and the King's legacy.
