Wenceslas Square, located in the heart of Prague, is the main gathering spot for locals and visitors ringing in the New Year. As one of Prague's two main squares—just a five-minute walk from Old Town Square—it buzzes with energy on New Year's Eve. A stage is typically set up in these squares, with a cultural program beginning around 6 pm and running through to midnight.

Be aware that Prague will be extremely crowded! If large crowds aren't your scene, it's best to steer clear of the city center on New Year's Eve. For those who enjoy lively celebrations, it's still a good idea to avoid the busiest areas, like Wenceslas Square, and seek out a less congested spot along the riverfront or in one of the city's other scenic viewpoints.

Throughout the night, bars and stalls serve up excellent Czech beer and warming mulled wine for those ready to celebrate into the early hours. Many of Prague's restaurants, bars, clubs, and river cruises organize special entertainment schedules so guests can enjoy the city's spectacular fireworks. Most venues also include Champagne or sparkling wine in the price of admission, adding a festive touch to the celebration.

Ano Novo na Praça da Cidade Velha

Queima de fogos de artifício e mapeamento de projeção de Ano Novo

Praga sempre teve espetáculos de fogos de artifício espetaculares, anunciando a chegada do Ano Novo. No entanto, nos últimos anos, a cidade decidiu substituir os fogos de artifício por uma alternativa ecologicamente correta, como a projeção mapeada. Ainda existem muitos shows de fogos de artifício menores e privados, que explodem em cores sobre Praga exatamente à meia-noite. Fogos de artifício do Dia de Ano Novo

Em 1º de janeiro, costumava haver um show oficial de fogos de artifício municipal, programado para as 18h e realizado no Parque Letná. Era melhor visualizado das pontes Čech e Štefánikův e das margens do rio Vltava em frente ao Parque Letná. No entanto, devido à discussão em curso, a cidade também mudou para a projeção mapeada do Dia de Ano Novo na Praça Venceslau.
