Maine International Film Festival 2024

O Maine International Film Festival (MIFF) é um evento cinematográfico no Maine realizado anualmente em Waterville. O festival dura dez dias na terceira semana de julho no Railroad Square Cinema e no Waterville Opera House. O foco principal do MIFF, que se realiza desde 1998, é os filmes independentes americanos e internacionais. O principal destaque do festival é o MIFF Midlife Achievement Award que vai para um ator ou um diretor por contribuições significativas para o cinema independente. O prestigiado prêmio foi recebido por atores Peter Fonda, Gabriel Byrne, John Turturro, Ed Harris, Lili Taylor e cineastas Terrence Malick, Walter Hill, Thelma Schoonmaker, Jonathan Demme.

Todos os anos, o Maine International Film Festival oferece 100 estrenos de cinema independentes e internacionais americanos e renascimentos clássicos. Também apresenta muitas performances, exposições, workshops, discussões e sessões informais de perguntas e respostas. Há muitos eventos onde o público pode interagir com diretores, atores e escritores. Organizadores sempre convidam convidados especiais como o brasileiro VJ Suave ou a diretora experimental Kerry Laitala.

Every year, the Maine International Film Festival offers 100 American independent and international cinema premiers and classic revivals. It also features many performances, exhibitions, workshops, discussions, and informal Q&A sessions. There are many events where audiences can interact with directors, actors, and writers. Organizers always invite special guests like Brazilian VJ Suave or experimental director Kerry Laitala.

The Maine International Film Festival spans several diverse venues in Waterville, offering a vibrant array of settings to enjoy cinematic experiences. From the historic grandeur of the Waterville Opera House to the intimate spaces of Art of Clay Studio and Studio 1902, each venue adds its unique charm to the festival atmosphere. Castonguay Square and Greene Block + Studios provide contemporary settings, while Head of Falls offers an outdoor option for screenings. Hinge Collaborative, Maine Film Center 1, 2, and 3, along with Ticonic Classroom and Lobby, round out the locations, ensuring that MIFF caters to a wide range of cinematic tastes and preferences.
