Maine International Film Festival 2024

Le Maine International Film Festival (MIFF) est un événement cinématographique de premier plan organisé chaque année à Waterville. Le festival dure dix jours dans la troisième semaine de juillet au Railroad Square Cinema et à l'Opéra de Waterville. L'objectif principal du MIFF, qui se tient depuis 1998, est le cinéma indépendant américain et international. Le principal point culminant du festival est le Midlife Achievement Award du MIFF qui va à un acteur ou à un réalisateur pour des contributions significatives au cinéma indépendant. Le prestigieux prix a été reçu par les acteurs Peter Fonda, Gabriel Byrne, John Turturro, Ed Harris, Lili Taylor et les cinéastes Terrence Malick, Walter Hill, Thelma Schoonmaker, Jonathan Demme.

Chaque année, le Maine International Film Festival propose 100 films indépendants et internationaux et des renaissances classiques. Il présente également de nombreux spectacles, expositions, ateliers, discussions et séances informelles de questions et réponses. Il y a beaucoup d'événements où le public peut interagir avec des réalisateurs, des acteurs et des écrivains. Les organisateurs invitent toujours des invités spéciaux comme le Brésilien VJ Suave ou le directeur expérimental Kerry Laitala.

Every year, the Maine International Film Festival offers 100 American independent and international cinema premiers and classic revivals. It also features many performances, exhibitions, workshops, discussions, and informal Q&A sessions. There are many events where audiences can interact with directors, actors, and writers. Organizers always invite special guests like Brazilian VJ Suave or experimental director Kerry Laitala.

The Maine International Film Festival spans several diverse venues in Waterville, offering a vibrant array of settings to enjoy cinematic experiences. From the historic grandeur of the Waterville Opera House to the intimate spaces of Art of Clay Studio and Studio 1902, each venue adds its unique charm to the festival atmosphere. Castonguay Square and Greene Block + Studios provide contemporary settings, while Head of Falls offers an outdoor option for screenings. Hinge Collaborative, Maine Film Center 1, 2, and 3, along with Ticonic Classroom and Lobby, round out the locations, ensuring that MIFF caters to a wide range of cinematic tastes and preferences.
