Dover Comic Con is an indoor & outdoor event held at various locations in Downtown Dover, Delaware. Offering a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities, a family-friendly event is dedicated to fantasy, comics, superheroes, and cosplay. The geek crowd of about 10,000 people features villains, fairies, knights, cartoon characters, and more.
Entertainment Program
One of the most beloved community summer events in Dover, the Comic Con, is organized by the Delaware State News with the support of local businesses. Dover Comic Con features over a hundred vendors, including artists and artisans. Interaction with actors and authors is available at panel discussions at the Old State House.
Other highlights include a cosplay competition, pop-culture cars, and food trucks. Dover Public Library typically offers all-day anime screenings, Star Wars reenactments, and more fun throughout the day. The First State Heritage Park is the center for outdoor activities and historical tours.
Activities for Children
Dover Comic Con also offers exciting programming for children. It includes fun activities and workshops, normally held at the Dover Public Library. Comic book lectures, face-painting, the Children's Costume Contest, and delicious treats for kids are among the public's favorites.
DCW Clash of the Con
If you're a wrestling fan, there's another event worth visiting during the convention—an autograph session and a live-action wrestling match, Clash of the Con, which will complete the day. Come to the autograph session to meet and talk to your favorite DCW stars, as well as see them in action at the ring. The event usually begins at 3:30 pm and takes place at the Legislative Mall.
Super Smash Brothers Gaming Tournament
The Biggs Museum hosts several fun activities, including Super Smash Brothers Tournament and historical exhibitions, such as "Award Winners XXIV" and "Rebecca Raubacher: Horses & Other Creatures." The tournament places fans of Super Smash Brothers against each other in a heated competition full of fun and laughter. The museum opens its doors at 10 am and closes to visitors at 5 pm.
Cosplay Competition
What Comic-Con festival takes place without a cosplay contest? Hundreds of fans can unleash their creativity and transform into their favorite character. The best costumes are rewarded with amazing prizes. During the contest, the participants have a chance to tell the story of their persona and put on a performance for the audience. This year's cosplay competition takes place at State Street on the Green and is produced by Red Bandana, a leading collectible store.
Admission & Schedule
Admission to all of the events is completely free, but if you'd like to enjoy some exclusive features and get Dover Comic Con merch, consider purchasing a VIP ticket. It costs $30 and includes a reserved parking space, access to a building with air-conditioning, a festival pin, a t-shirt and much more. Other than that, stock up on cash to buy collectibles and foods from vendors at the convention. The convention spans from 10 am until 5 pm, with the last events ending approximately at 5 pm.
