Oconomowoc is a resort town in Lake Country of Wisconsin. Its name means "waterfall" in the Potawatomi language. It's also a great destination to celebrate the 4th of July with several beaches and a large park by Fowler Lake. Independence Day in Oconomowoc features a community parade, a performance of American Legion band and fireworks after dusk over Fowler and Okauchee Lakes.

The annual 4th of July celebration in Downtown Oconomowoc is sponsored by The Oconomowoc Rotary Club. This year, the residents of this vibrant city will celebrate Independence early, on June 29th. The festivities include the 4th of July parade, a community festival and fireworks show over the lake.

The star-studded procession sets off at 5 pm from Roosevelt Park and continues moving through Downtown Oconomowoc, greeting hundreds of citizens in all their red, white, and blue glory. The final stop of the parade is Fowler Park, where the festivities continue. Oconomowoc American Legion Band will also take part in the event, playing some of the best patriotic hits.

Fireworks Display at Fowler Lake

Fowler Park draws in hundreds of visitors every year for its annual 4th of July community celebration and fireworks show. You'll have a chance to enjoy festival food from local vendors and taste delicious beverages from local breweries. Swing by the event's stage to witness some incredible performances by music talent from the area. Admission is free for the public.

The cherry on top is surely the fireworks, which usually start at 9 pm after dusk. American Legion Band Concert (July 3, 2024)

A beloved Oconomowoc community ensemble, American Legion Band performs weekly during the summer for the city's residents. And the musicians won't miss out on an opportunity to celebrate freedom during the 4th of July weekend. The concert takes place at 7:30 pm at Rhodee Memorial Band Shell in Oconomowoc Downtown on the lakeside of Lac La Belle. Admission is free, so stop by to listen to the best of orchestral music.

Okauchee Lake Fireworks (July 4, 2024)

Another great spot to witness the Independence Day fireworks is by the lakeside of Okauchee Lake, located in Oconomowoc. The show is usually set off at 9:30 pm from the island in the channel between Weissgerber's Golden Mast Inn and The Hideaway Bar & Grill. The fireworks will be visible anywhere near the channel, but the best viewing spots include the Golden Mast Inn, The Hideaway, and Foolery's on Okauchee Lake.

Fowler Lake is a 97-acre (39-ha) lake with a public boat landing, which is suitable for fishing. Fish species include panfish, largemouth bass, Northern pike, and walleye.
