Savannah Film Festival 2024
The largest cinema showcase in the South's most beautiful city

SCAD Savannah Film Festival is the world's largest university-run film festival, taking place at the historical Savannah College of Art and Design every October. The eight-day celebration of all things cinema features prestigious competition film screenings, premieres, special screenings, galas, and workshops, as well as panels, lectures, and workshops with award-winning directors, actors, and emerging student filmmakers.
Launched in 1997, the Savannah Film Festival attracts about 60,000 attendees. The event is held across several beautiful venues in Savannah: Trustees Theater, the SCAD Museum of Art, Lucas Theatre for the Arts, and Gutstein Gallery.
Film Screenings
The Savannah Film Festival showcases top independent and studio feature-length and short films from different countries. Every year, over 2,000 films enter the competition, and over 100 get selected by the jury in nine categories: Narrative Features, Professional Shorts, Student Shorts, Documentary Features, and Animated Shorts. The main highlights of the festival include Gala Screenings and Signature Screenings, showcasing top-rated and soon-to-be-released films, which might get Oscar nominations. In addition, the festival runs The Docs to Watch series, which present the top 10 documentaries of the year, and Pixels and Pencils, which highlight the top animated films.

Every year, several honored guests, or honorees, make an appearance at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival Past guests included Kevin Bacon, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Salma Hayek Pinault, Jenna Ortega, Robert Pattinson, Ava DuVernay, Jeff Nichols, Peter Sarsgaard, Cailee Spaeny, Katie Spencer, George C. Wolfe, Ron Howard, Eddie Redmayne, Samuel L. Jackson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Aunjanue Ellis, Emerald Fennell, Sarah Greenwood, Todd Haynes, Kazu Hiro, Jack Huston, Cord Jefferson, and Greta Lee.
Tickets
Festival .passes allow access to most of the screenings and events during the festival. In 2024, Savannah Daytime Pass, which provides priority entry and access to all screenings and panels prior to 6 pm, costs $150 per person. Spotlight Pass costs $350. Marquee Pass ($550) offers priority entry and access to all screenings, panels, and the passholder exclusive Director's Choice screening. Tickets for individual screenings go on sale online and at SCAD Box Office on October 4, 2024.
