Skidaway Island Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K 2025 in Savannah, GA

A beautiful oasis just outside the city of Savannah, Skidaway Island offers a stunning backdrop for runners of all levels. With its flat landscape, picturesque coastal scenery, and mild climate, the area is a dream for athletes seeking to challenge themselves while enjoying the natural beauty. The Skidaway Island Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K have become increasingly popular events, drawing over 2,000 participants each year, from seasoned marathoners to enthusiastic newcomers.

Marathon Course

The full marathon course of 26.2 miles is a highlight of the event, taking runners through the lush landscapes of Skidaway Island. After the start at the Skidaway Island Ocean Institute, participants continue their run through the prestigious Landings neighborhood. They traverse scenic roads lined with beautiful oak trees draped in Spanish moss, providing a unique Southern charm that sets this race apart. The route also features glimpses of salt marshes and wildlife, allowing runners to immerse themselves in the island’s natural beauty. With a mostly flat terrain, this marathon is ideal for those looking to set personal records or simply enjoy a scenic long-distance run. The race starts at 7:30 am. Runners are recommended to arrive at 6 am. The marathon and half-marathon courses are US Track and Field Certified.

Half-Marathon Course

The half-marathon course of 13.1 miles closely follows the marathon route, showcasing similar breathtaking views while providing a manageable distance for runners of all abilities. About 800 participants will enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and a flat, scenic course with amazing marsh and riverfront views, elegant homes, and a sneak peek of the Landing Golf Courses. There's a four-hour time limit to finish the course. The road to the main event area closes for 45 minutes and reopens after runners have passed the Landing North Gate Entrance. Registration fee is $65.

The 5K Course

The 5K course is perfect for families, beginners, and anyone wanting to join in on the festivities without the intensity of longer races. This shorter route allows runners to experience the same beautiful surroundings with the added bonus of being a quick and enjoyable challenge. The course is almost flat, entirely paved, with very little traffic. The 5 K race starts at 8 am. Registration fee is $30.

In addition to the races, the Skidaway Island Marathon weekend features a lively atmosphere with vendors, entertainment, and post-race celebrations, making it a perfect getaway for runners and spectators alike.
