Chilean Patagonia has long attracted millions of travelers from distant lands, drawn by its untouched natural beauty and tranquility. It also entices professional and amateur runners who participate in the annual Patagonian International Marathon. This event takes runners through the mountains and glaciers of the region, often in challenging weather conditions. It is renowned as the most multinational marathon in Southern Chilean Patagonia.
Route & Distances
The base city for the event is Puerto Natales, located 250 km north of Punta Arenas, the region's capital. The event takes place within Torres del Paine National Park, utilizing its vehicular gravel routes known for their curves and steep slopes. All distances share a finish line located a few meters from the Welcome Center at Reserva Las Torres. The classic race distances include a 42km marathon, a 21km half-marathon, and a 10km run, with some editions also featuring an ultra-marathon distance.

The registration fee for the event ranges from $124 to $281, depending on the distance.
History of Patagonian International Marathon
In 2012, the Patagonian International Marathon® became the first marathon to take place in Torres del Paine National Park. Since then, the event has been held annually in September, either inside the park or within its surroundings, with the exception of 2020 due to the pandemic. This marathon has attracted runners from over 65 countries, who converge in the extreme south of Patagonia to fulfill their dream of running in one of the most pristine locations on the planet.
