In April, the streets of the capital turn into the route of the Rock 'n' Roll Madrid Marathon, one of the largest sporting events in Spain. The competition related to the Gold Label series is equal in its class to such famous runs as the New York, London and Berlin marathons.
This is a grand sports holiday, which also includes a 10 km race and a semi-marathon. It is accompanied by live music in more than 20 venues of the city.
The route runs from the Cibeles Fountain to Paseo de la Castellana through the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, the Puerta del Sol, the Royal Palace, the Casa de Campo, Madrid Río Park and ends at the historic Retiro Park. A warm welcome of the inspired Madrid audience and sports fans is crowning this sports holiday.
