Venice Marathon (Maratona di Venezia) 2024

The Annual Venice Marathon has been taking place since 1986. Sign up early in order to compete with 7000 runners from all over the world as they race through the streets of Venice. Spectators will be able to find numerous street musicians and food vendors to keep themselves entertained, while the runners make their way to the finish line at Riva Sette Martiri.

Marathon Route

The 26-mile (42-km) course begins at Villa Pisani, a Baroque-style palace, welcoming runners with its gorgeous vistas. The race then continues along Riviera del Brenta, filled to the brim with Venetian villas, and passes through Marghera and Mestre. Participants will run past San Giuliano Park and explore the historic center, with the final section passing through Piazza San Marco. The finish line is located at Riva Sette Martiri. The race starts at about 9:40 am. Participating in the marathon costs €62 for the first 4000 entrants, €72 for 4000 to 6000 participants, and €82 after 6000 participants.

Marathon Entertainment

San Giuliano Park is the center of marathon-related activities such as the Expo and Family Run for children and teenagers, which usually takes place one day before the marathon.

Other Events

If you are not ready to run a 42 km distance yet, you can opt for a 10K and still enjoy running through most of the famous sites of Venice. Those wanting more of a challenge can try their hand at a half-marathon, which begins in Piazza Ferretto and ends in Riva Sette Martiri.
