The Miami Marathon has been one of the fastest-growing annual marathons, attracting world-class distance runners. It is open to all runners, male and female, from any nation. Celebrities or local politicians usually start the race. The marathon is typically held on the last Sunday of January or the first Sunday of February.
The terrain is almost all flat, except for two bridges—the MacArthur Causeway Bridge and Miami Beach. The race also features the elite athlete awards ceremony, a post-race party at Bayfront Park, Kids Run Miami, and a Tropical 5K run.
