History of SCMS
The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) started in 1982 as a "fun run" organized by the Singapore International Marathon Organising Committee, with Raymond Crab and Winnie Ng as the first finishers. The event quickly grew, with Standard Chartered becoming the title sponsor in 2002 and The IRONMAN® Group acquiring it in 2016. By 2019, it achieved World Athletics Gold Label status and introduced evening races.
