Munich Marathon Featured in
Munich is a beautiful city, and there is no better chance to discover it than running through its most prominent landmarks together with thousands of long-distance runners, being cheered by the crowds. The marathon follows the 1972 Olympic race course, with a start in Coubertinplatz in Olympic Park Munich and a finish at the Olympic Stadium. The marathon course goes through the Old Town and loops through the Englischer Garten.
There is also a half-marathon and a special fun run. "Trachtenlauf" or a costume run is one of the most popular events among the locals. The idea is that participants dress up in their national costumes and run 4km before enjoying a traditional Bavarian Weißwurst breakfast. You'll see plenty of kilts, kimonos, and of course a vast variety of Bavarian costumes.
