Tollwood Winter Festival 2024 in Munich

The Tollwood Winter Festival, often called Munich’s "alternative Christmas market," is held annually at Theresienwiese. This unique event offers a vibrant mix of cultural, political, and environmental themes. Visitors can stay warm and engaged in various themed tents. The Weltsalon tent features scientific, political, and cultural workshops and events. At the same time, the Theaterzelt hosts a range of performances, including circuses, plays, and concerts, making it a diverse and dynamic winter experience.

Events & Activities

Set inside a giant tent, the festival provides a cozy atmosphere during frosty winter evenings. Every year, the Tollwood Winter Festival offers a fresh lineup of performances. Visitors can explore the "market of ideas" and discover something new and exciting. The festival traditionally concludes with a spectacular New Year's Eve celebration featuring a midnight waltz on Theresienwiese.

Attendees can shop for unique gifts while savoring warming Christmas foods and Glühwein. The Food Plaza features all your favorite holiday delights, and entertainment includes the enchanting "Magic Forest," complete with beautiful sculptures, a talking Christmas tree, and a curling rink. The Tollwood New Year’s Eve Gala boasts live music, DJs, and a delicious organic menu, attracting over 600,000 visitors annually. It’s the perfect place to spend quality time with friends amidst a lively array of entertainment.

Special Events

The Tollwood Winter Festival presents a variety of special events, including the Festival du Cirque from November 26 to December 22, 2024. This event features performances from three acclaimed circus companies: Circa, Circo Zoé, and The 7 Fingers, offering a captivating blend of poetry, dance, and dynamic acts. For a fun activity, visitors can enjoy a curling track available for rent at €79 per hour, complete with sports equipment. To celebrate the New Year, the festival will host a big Tollwood New Year’s Eve party starting at 7 pm for €38.50, featuring music from Munich club Harry Klein, along with a DJ, VJ, and a colorful drag artist contest for a lively celebration.
