Every year, Chicagoland's largest indoor lights extravaganza takes place at Navy Pier during the holiday season. This family-friendly event features activities for all ages, making it a fun destination for visitors. Come and explore the largest indoor and outdoor holiday experience in Chicago!
Activities at the Winter Festival
Light Up the Lake at Navy Pier is a spectacular indoor winter experience featuring over 600,000 twinkling lights, creating a magical atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including an Alpine ice rink, a festive holiday beer garden, kiddie train rides, and a selection of interactive light displays. The event also boasts an enchanting birch tree maze and a chance to meet Santa, making it a perfect outing for families. Attendees can enjoy breathtaking views from the Centennial Ferris Wheel, visit Santa's Merry Main Street and gift market, and explore numerous holiday attractions.
Other events during the season include the Holiday Drink Mixology Class, Santa Sails the Seadog, and the Santa Hustle 5K. The festival also features free festive light displays, fireworks, drone shows, outdoor ice slides, and craft workshops. With unique experiences such as curling by the lake, a holiday artisan marketplace, and the Winterland Illuminarium, Light Up the Lake promises a fun-filled holiday tradition for all.
Tickets & Schedule
Light Up the Lake at Navy Pier offers multiple ticket options for its attractions. Admission to the Centennial Wheel and Ice Slide combination is priced at $24. For those who wish to experience each attraction individually, a ticket for the Centennial Wheel is available for $18, while the Ice Slide can be enjoyed for $12. Skating is free if you bring your skates. Skate rentals are available for purchase. The open hours are from 12 pm to 8 pm.
