Locations
Winterlights will guide you through Luxembourg City’s festive ambiance, with light displays and activities spread across various sites. Organizers provide maps to help visitors navigate and ensure they don’t miss any attractions. A highlight is the Tunnel of Lights at Place de Martyrs, a popular spot for photos. Ville Haute is the main area for Christmas markets and illuminations, with twinkling lights decorating trees at the Wantermaart Christmas market. The festival offers a magical adventure for all ages, bringing holiday spirit to the city streets.
Wanterpark at Kinnekswiss
Just outside Ville Haute, Kinnekswiss Park hosts a state park where the Winterlights festival features a 500m² ice skating rink, complete with a covered section for rainy weather. Skaters can enjoy gliding under hanging light sculptures and a ceiling adorned with 20,000 LEDs. For those looking to relax afterward, food and vin chaud are available. The highlight of the festival is the heated ice rink, which offers a festive atmosphere, and the gastronomic village in the Parc Municipal enhances the experience with delicious food options.
Christmas Markets
Winter Lights encompasses Luxembourg City’s Christmas Markets, each featuring festive stalls and illuminated displays. Held in central squares like Place d'Armes and Place de la Constitution from late November to early January, the markets offer handcrafted gifts, local delicacies such as Gromperekichelcher (potato fritters), and Glühwein (mulled wine). Along with attractions like a giant Christmas tree, a Ferris wheel, and ice skating, every market is adorned with beautiful illuminations, creating a magical ambiance. The event highlights Luxembourg's rich holiday traditions, drawing both locals and visitors for an unforgettable experience.
Opening Hours
The hours are 11 am to 9 pm Sunday—Thursday and 11 am to 10 pm Friday—Saturday. Note that the Winterlights close at 5 pm on Christmas Eve.
