Winters in Vegas are usually moderate and short. Temperatures drop fast. The coldest time of the year is in December when night temperature drops to +2°C (36°F). Luckily, it's back to a comfortable +13-14°C (55-57°F) in January. Sometimes even frosts occur. Winter weather also brings some precipitation although rains are still rare. Snowfalls in the city are unlikely, but higher parts in the vicinity are regularly covered with snow. At this time of year, the wind blows with gusts upwards of 64 km (40 miles) per hour, which makes winter even colder.
