Unlike the rest of the state, New York City enjoys a humid subtropical climate. In the summer the city is rather hot and humid, especially in July and August. However, as cold fronts come from Canada there can be occasional cool days. But the temperature rarely falls lower than 23-25 °C.
Heat waves also occur quite often when hot air comes from Mexico. As a result, the temperature may reach 35-38 °C. Summer is also a quite rainy season, be prepared for afternoon thunderstorms. July and August are the rainiest months of the year.
