The Newport Beach Film Festival is an annual 8-day event held each October, showcasing over 300 feature and short films from more than 50 countries. The festival provides Orange County residents with the opportunity to view the best in classic and contemporary cinema from around the world. With an educational focus, the festival features a first-class international film program that includes screenings of both studio and independent films.
Newport Beach Film Festival Awards
The festival has a variety of awards to honor the best cinematic works, divided into three groups: Audience Awards, Jury Awards, and Festival Honors. Audience Awards, among others, feature Best International Feature, Best U.S. Feature, Best Action Sports Film, Best Culinary Film, Best Environmental Feature, Best Short Documentary, and Best Irish Film.
Jury Awards determine the winners in the nominations like Best Feature Documentary, Best Feature, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Actor, Best Actress, and others. Festival Honors include Outstanding Performance, Outstanding Feature Narrative, Outstanding Screenplay, Outstanding Documentary, Outstanding Editing Feature, and others.
Last year's winners in various categories included the following films: The Michoacán File, Monster, Narayan Van Maele (Double Blind), Dig Deeper, Danceable, and Inglorious Liaisons.

Opening Night Film and Party - Old Guy ticket costs $237, Opening Night Party Only is $158. Closing Night Film - A Real Pain ticket is priced at $100.

Th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival takes place in theaters around Newport Beach, featuring Fashion Island’s THE LOT, Regal’s Big Edwards Newport, and Starlight Cinemas.
Newport Beach Film Festival History
The first Newport Beach Film Festival was held in 1999, attracting over 56,000 visitors in its inaugural year. This made the festival the largest international film event in coastal Southern California. The festival's areas of focus include the arts, health and social services, the environment, education, children's affairs, alumni clubs, and programs for seniors and veterans. In 2019, the festival celebrated its 20th anniversary, reaching 58,000 attendees.
