When the temperature goes up, outdoor movies appear in parks and on roofs, many of which are also free. Take a rug and a picnic basket and watch your favourite movies in the company of people close to you. Enjoy great movies on big screens, local food, and even entertainment shows before the film.

Among the most popular and unusual locations for a movie theatre is the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. The annual season for watching movies here attracts thousands of visitors. In addition to watching the movie itself, bands and DJs perform here.

Long Beach is another great location. Who hasn't dreamed of watching a movie at night next to the ocean? Also with free entrance and free parking!

Another theatre is located at Westfield Culver City, at a large shopping complex. You can also watch a movie on the roof of the hotel near the pool at a West Hollywood bar, but only if you are already over 21.

Every other Friday night during the summer, you can enjoy free movie nights run by the Silver Lake Picture Show at the Sunset Triangle Plaza. The Silver Lake Picture Show screens popular and culturally significant films along with short films by local filmmakers. Movie screenings gather crowds of 500-2000 people to watch great films, picnic, and hang out.

Watching a movie in a car is a very American experience. You can do it at Electric Dusk Drive-In, Fashion District DTLA.

The season of outdoor movie screenings in Los Angeles begins in early April and lasts through to late October. One of the most popular events during the season is the annual Eat|See|Hear Outdoor Movie Festival that takes place at various locations between early May and mid-September.
