Winter months in Korea typically bring cold and dry weather. Temperatures range from -6 °C to 3 °C with an interesting phenomenon called 'Samhansaon' wherein 3 consecutive days of cold weather are succeeded by 4 straight days of warmer weather. Occasional snowfall can lead to frosty weather.
The influence of the Siberian high pressure system results in cold north-western winds throughout the whole winter. January is the coldest month.
