Every year, on the first Saturday of May, Lviv residents and guests celebrate Lviv City Day. The event is a collection of festive whirls, concerts, educational activities, and other fun things. So let's get into details and see what you can do in the city both as a local and a tourist!

Lviv Day is a very important event to the locals, which is why they prepare many entertainment options. For example, many famous people, members of educational and public institutions, actors, musicians, and even children get together to march in a festive parade. You can also witness actors on stilts, knights, and other people dressed in medieval costumes. Plus, you are doomed to see numerous Ukrainian national outfits.

If you get hungry, be sure to taste food from local vendors and have a sip of delicious Lviv coffee. After that, it might be a good idea to check out one of the street music concerts, which are also an integral part of the celebration. Just strolling through the city center should allow you to hear and see many brass and other bands playing.

Even though numerous parties take place on Svoboda Avenue and in the city's parks, the main party celebration spot is the one on Rynok Square. On Lviv Day(city day), the city boasts performances by children's groups, folk groups, and well-known bands. In addition, there are also a lot of events in Sykhiv and Levandivka, which are the more distant regions of Lviv, and a flash mob–usually held at the Danylo Halytskyi Airport as an invitation to the main celebrations.

Important reminder: some (if not all) celebrations may be postponed or canceled due to the russian war in Ukraine. Thus, please make sure to check the event's official Facebook page before booking accommodation or plane tickets.
