Winters in Hong Kong are dry, cloudy and cool. Cold and dry winds from the north may bring colder weather. Such occasional fronts may lead to weather change that requires a warm jacket, as temperature may drop below 10 °C. The northern New Territory and Tai Mo Shan area are usually the coldest. If you go there, you may even experience frosts.
Winter arrives in December and ends in February when the weather becomes more sunny and humid. This period is a high season due to Christmas sales. Cold fronts are usually short and as the sky clears, the temperature rises back to comfortable 17 °C.
