This fruit is rarely consumed outside the Pacific. Its skin is too thin for transportation. When you are in Hawaii, you can take advantage of this sweet pink or ruby pear-shaped fruit. Its soft sweet flavour is also reminiscent of a pear only more delicate and unusual. Ohi'a'ai were brought to Hawaii from Malaysia. Mountain apples belong to the myrtle family like guava and eucalyptus.
