Fuyu Persimmons in San Francisco 2025
Latins called Fuyu persimmon “the fruit of the gods”
Best time: October–November
The sweet taste of a round orange Fuyu persimmon fruit resembles that of honey mixed with mango and has a hint of spice. Its Latin name literally means “the fruit of the gods”. It is a common salad ingredient. Besides, this fruit is widely used in baking. Fuyu persimmons come into season in late fall and are harvested in October or November. It is necessary to store the fruits for some time after harvest until they fully mature. Their ripeness is indicated by a soft texture and distinct flavor.
