Barcelona has a humid subtropical climate with mild winters and hot summers. Days in the winter are not as short with 10 hours of daylight on the average, which makes this season good for sightseeing and hiking.
January and February are the coldest months, but the temperature stays around 16 °C. Frosts rarely occur in the city. However, they are possible on higher elevations, located further from the sea. Cold waves do happen sometimes in the winter, but the temperature rarely drops lower than 10 °C.
Winters are quite dry in Barcelona with four to five rainy days per month. It may snow once during the winter. But the snow doesn't stay on the ground for too long.
