Norfolk is a waterfront city in southeastern Virginia. It is one of the state cities that draw tourists all year, but peak times in summer are especially lively, with many people enjoying the sun and outdoor fun. Still, offering mild weather and fewer crowds, spring (April-May) is the best time to visit Norfolk, as well as the beginning of the fall (September-October). Both of these periods mean that the weather is just right: days are sunny and brisk, and evenings are warm and full of festivals, shows, and activities. Winters (December-February) are also nice, with a cozy, festive feel. You can join the New Year's Eve celebrations or witness one of the most impressive light shows on the East Coast - the Norfolk Botanical Gardens Christmas lights display.
