The beautiful coastal city of Virginia Beach is the premier destination in the state when it comes to parties. Numerous hotels, bars, and clubs offer a wide array of dance parties and galas to celebrate the end of the year. There's also a large free street party and concert called The Last Night on the Town organized by the city of Virginia Beach.
Festivities in the Virginia Beach Town Center start at about 2 pm on December 31 with family-friendly activities in mind. Pembroke Mall hosts plenty of entertainment like arts, crafts, magic and juggling tricks, music, and a children’s New Year countdown with a balloon drop at 5 pm.
Street Party for adults starts at about 6 pm and lasts through 8:30 pm at Town Center’s Fountain Plaza with several DJ sets. Live music headliners perform from 8:30 until midnight at the Countdown Stage on Columbus Street. Entertainment is free, however, there's a ticketed VIP zone in a heated tent by the stage providing the best views.
