When to arrive
To get the best viewing spot for New Year’s Eve in Times Square, aim to arrive early—by noon or even mid-morning—to secure a place close to the main stage. The most popular viewing areas fill up fast and once full, access is restricted for security. Dress warmly, as you'll be outside for hours, and bring snacks, as re-entry is not allowed. The amazing New Year show begins at 6 pm. The New Year's Eve Rockin' Stage fills with musicians that help revelers get in the mood.
2024 Lineup
The Times Square New Year’s Eve Countdown begins at 6 pm with the lighting and raising of the iconic ball, followed by festive activities like musical acts and hourly countdowns. Throughout the evening, headline performances include Megan Thee Stallion, Flo Rida, and LL Cool J, each bringing excitement to the crowd. In 2024, the lineup also includes Canadian singer Paul Anka, Mexican singer Yng Lvcas, Jelly Roll, Argentinian singer Maria Becerra, and South African singer Tyla. Other highlights include cultural performances and interactive segments, where hosts engage with revelers.
In previous years, the list of headliners included Jennifer Lopez, Duran Duran, Gloria Gaynor, Pitbull, J-hope, Jax and New Edition, Jessie James Decker. Anitta, Billy Porter, Cyndi Lauper, Jimmie Allen, Machine Gun Kelly, The Waffle Crew, and USO Show Troupe.
Final Countdown
As midnight approaches, Mayor Eric Adams leads the final 60-second countdown to the ball drop, accompanied by a massive confetti release and pyrotechnics, marking a spectacular start to the New Year. The legendary New Year's Eve confetti is released from the rooftops of buildings throughout Times Square, creating a colorful blizzard as revelers welcome the New Year. The three thousand pounds of confetti includes tens of thousands of wishes from revelers around the world hoping for peace, love, good health and a better future in the new year. The atmosphere is unbelievable!

You can add your wishes to the confetti, showering Times Square on New Year's Eve either digitally or in person. Submit your wish on the digital wishing wall or visit a mobile wishing wall team on the plazas, operating December 1-29, from 11 am to 8 pm.
