Pineapple Drop occurs during the annual Downtown Sarasota Block Party that starts on December 31 at 1 pm and lasts until 1 am of the following day. The celebration usually begins with family-friendly activities such as amusement rides and games at 5 Points Park. Then follows the live music concert on the stage at Main St. & Lemon. The culmination of the holiday occurs during the countdown. After the Pineapple Drop, there is a spectacular fireworks display over Sarasota Bay. About 20,000 people take part in this block party every year.
Marina Jack NYE
Marina Jack, located at the Sarasota bayfront, is also known for its NYE celebration. Special menus, live entertainment, and the fireworks display at midnight lure the festive crowds to the area. Special holiday cruise options are available at the marina as well.
Selby Gardens New Year’s Eve Gala
Selby Gardens is another must-see place during the holidays. The gardens usually host an extravagant black-tie gala event on New Year's Eve. Not to mention the marvelous illumination that consists of over two million lights. The Lights in Bloom open-air holiday light show welcomes visitors in Selby Gardens on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, from 6 to 9 pm.
