Torotot Festival 2024-2025 in Philippines

Celebrate New Year’s Eve with party horns in the city of Davao

Dates: December 31–January 1

The Davao City Torotot Festival is celebrated on New Year's Eve. Torotot is a kind of party horn, popular in the Philippines. It's quite an experience to join in the orchestra of thousands of party horn blowers at the New Year's Countdown. The event claims to be the world's largest assembly of party blowers.

Festival Program & Customs

The Torotot Festival was first organized in 2014 to overcome the city’s pyrotechnic and firecracker prohibition. Usually, it starts with a parade of local people dressed in colorful costumes. Also, the festival includes a competition organized to identify the most creative and interesting Torotot. As a result, this New Year’s party is very noisy and joyful. The locals gather in the streets of the city and form a giant block party to ring in the New Year.

Location

This vibrant New Year's Eve celebration takes place in Davao City in the Davao Region in the southern part of the Philippines. Some of the largest festivities took place in the Rizal Park near San Pedro Metropolitan Cathedral.

History of the Festival

First held in 2014, the festival was founded in an effort to encourage people to celebrate New Year's Eve without fireworks or firecrackers and instead urge them to use confetti or party poppers. Fireworks and pyrotechnics have been banned in Davao City since 2002.
