The Neptune Festival is one of the signature celebrations of Virginia Beach that lasts for the whole summer attracting hundreds of thousands of people. Thirty-two blocks of the Virginia Beach Boardwalk feature endless entertainment opportunities: bands, delicious snacks, arts and crafts. Neptune Festival Grand Parade that takes place in late September is one of the major highlights of the festival that closes down summer beach season with Grand Finale weekend. The Neptune Festival Grand Parade features over 100 entries and is held between 16th and 32nd Streets on Atlantic Avenue.
Thousands of people line the streets to see colourful floats, larger-than-life balloons, and costumed characters. Lots of pirates and King Neptune XLIV with his Royal Court march through 16 city blocks. Lots of marching bands and music, as well as giveaways for the crowd, ensure everyone is having fun.
The Grand Parade is followed by spectacular fireworks on Virginia Beach Oceanfront. The show becomes larger every year and features thousands of brilliant colourful splashes over the Atlantic Ocean.
