Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade 2025 in Chicago
Chinese New Year is celebrated heavily in Chicago
Dates: February 9, 2025
Chicago's Chinatown celebrates CNY with an annual Lunar New Year Parade and other traditional festivities, luring 30,000 spectators to the streets of the Windy City. The massive parade features traditional dragons, lion dances, and lots of floats dedicated to the animal of the year. All starts at 1 pm from 24th Street and Wentworth Avenue. The marching units weave their way northwards to Cermak and Wentworth. The parade is over around 3 pm.
Beyond the festive street extravaganza, the festival offers a plenty of traditional Chinese New Year dishes. Local restaurants design special Asian menus for their customers to ring in the Chinese New Year with gusto. So feel free to browse the Chinatown and beyond to explore local culinary scene during the holiday.
Please note that the most convenient way to get to the Chinatown is by public transport, as parking lots will be limited this day. If you still prefer to use your car, take into account that some roads will be closed due to the parade.
