There are two main varieties of lemons in this area—Limone Costa d'Amalfi or Sfusato Amalfitano and Limone di Sorento. Both of these varieties are large and sweet lemons rich in vitamin C. It is said that the best lemon liqueur limoncello is made from local fruits. And although the lemons are harvested more than once a year, spring through mid-summer is considered to be the best time for them.
