Annually New Yorkers and tourists dress up as Santa Claus or other Christmas characters for the pub crawl called SantaCon, short of Santa Convention. New York SantaCon is a beloved tradition for a lot of people who join the event to spread the joy of Christmas and to enjoy checking out some bars, live music performances, and night clubs in a fun group.
So far New York hosts the largest SantaCon in the world with around 30,000 participants. Some of them might be drunk or rude but in general, the atmosphere is friendly. Most of the participants simply use the convention as an opportunity to party in a creative Christmas costume and have fun. Moreover, around 15% of the bar bills for sponsoring venues go to charity.
