In early April Tibet reopens its borders to tourists. Ice and snow melts and blocked roads are open again. This is one of the best months to visit Tibet, as there will be fewer crowds than during the summer months. The weather is pleasant, with sunny days and clear skies, which provide perfect views.
It is still the dry season and with nine hours of sunshine, it starts to get really warm at lower elevations, though higher elevations are still frozen. In May most of the territory of Tibet is dry, warm, and sunny. Trees and fields turn green and blooming season is at its best. It is one of the best months to plan your trip, especially long-distance trekking.
