Winters in Madrid are quite mild and snowless, but at night the temperature often drops below 0 °C. In the afternoon, it is still very nice, sunny, and refreshing. Daytime temperatures strike about 10°C to 15°C.
Despite the fact that winter is known as the rainy season, there are many days of fine weather with bright blue sky and shining sun. Because of the altitude on which the city is located, it can experience extremes in temperature fluctuations. Snow, as a rule, is typical for the neighbouring mountain ranges.
