Vermont is famous for its artisanal cheese and award-winning cheesemakers. There are 50 of them per capita. The annual Vermont Cheesemakers' Festival is held at Shelburne Farms, Shelburne, every July to celebrate the local passion for excellent dairy products, wine and craft beers. The festival showcases more than 200 Vermont cheeses as well as other specialty foods. Get ready for a full day of tastings, cheesemaking workshops, cooking demonstrations and more. Tastings include various milk products, Roumy cheese, cottage cheese, and beverages. The festival attracts about 2,000 attendees.

Vermont Cheesemakers' Festival is a great chance to spend a hot summer day in the picturesque setting of Lake Champlain and historic Shelburne Farms Coach Barn. General admission is $50.
