San Pedro International Costa Maya Festival 2023, Belize

The largest festival in Belize celebrating Caribbean and Maya culture

Dates: August, 2024 (canceled)

The Costa Maya International Festival is one of Belize’s main annual cultural events. Every August, it is held at Hon. Luis Sylvester Sporting Complex in San Pedro, on Ambergris Caye, the largest island of Belize. The festival's highlights include live music concerts, a beauty pageant which awards 'Miss Costa Maya International', dancing, great food, and art exhibits. Cultural performances and contests feature participants from Honduras, Mexico, and other Central American countries. The three-day festival, which takes place every August, is dedicated to Maya heritage and contemporary culture.

The festival weekend features seafood cookouts, soccer games, parades, music, and drumming. “Noche International” concert attracts some of the most popular Latino bands in the region. Expect to hear lots of punta music, reggae, salsa, reggaeton, marimba, and mariachi. San Pedro International Costa Maya Festival was first held in 1991 as the Sea and Air Festival. It's meant to bring together eight Mundo Maya countries: Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica, and Belize; which send their best talent to perform on the streets of San Pedro.
