Football in Buenos Aires, of course, is an integral part of life and is undoubtedly one of the symbols of the country. Argentines in the literal sense live on football, they are considered to be some of the most passionate football fans in the world.
There are three of the most popular teams in Argentina—Boca Juniors, River Plate, and Independiente. Visit the stadium of Boca Juniors, a famous Argentine football club, its stands, locker rooms preserved since 1978, the press conference room, as well as Maradona's own reserved section. There is also a museum of the stadium and the club, where you can see all the players who played for the club and trophies of the team.
In the young district of the city, Núñez, there is another famous stadium for the football team River Plate.
Twice a year, the national league championships take place in Buenos Aires—"Torneo Clausura" (from February to July), and "Torneo Apertura" (from August to December).
