Starting from March the ‘Hipodromo Argentino’ becomes the centre of spectacular horse racing competitions locally named "carreras de caballos." Gran Premio Nacional is the most prestigious event held in mid-November. It was founded in 1884 and is also known as "Argentine Derby". Besides the races themselves, Gran Premio Nacional event offers a plenty of trackside entertainment for the whole family, including a gastronomic fair, live shows, and also celebrity spotting.
