Christmas Sweets in Spain 2025-2026
Treat yourself to real Christmas sweets favoured by Spaniards
Best time: late December–early January
Christmas is the sweetest holiday of the year! Forget about diets and visit the ancient confectioneries of Spain to taste turron, marzipan, candied fruit, mantecado, and Roscon de Reyes. Turron is based on nuts and honey with toasted yolk, fruit, soft or hard, with chocolate.
There is also a popular pan de Cádiiz—a marzipan bun with yolk, quince jam, and coconut. Also don't forget about bartolillos (buns with cream), pestiños (pancakes with honey), and almond biscuits.
And of course, no Christmas can do without Roscón de Reyes with a traditional filling - cream, peanuts, raspberry, or pumpkin confiture. It's traditionally eaten on January 6th, the holiday of Baptism of Jesus, known as the Epiphany, or Three Kings' Day.
