The International Descent of the Sella or Descenso Internacional del Sella is marked every year with a 15 km canoe marathon along the Sella River in Arriondas, Asturias. The event is organized by the Spanish Federation of Canoeing.

Originating in 1930, this festival now attracts participants and spectators from all over the world. In 1994, more than 1400 boats took part in the competition that made the festival one of the biggest events in the history of canoeing. Full of music and colour, the atmosphere of this festival is also really unique.

At 11 am, while canoeists get ready on the river, colourful crowds of people make their way through the streets of Arriondas to watch the race. You can become one of them and feel the real Spanish spirit. At the end of the race, the party begins. Locals, participants, and visitors enjoy music, dancing, and food. When night falls, the fun continues until the early hours on the streets, in bars, and in open-air terraces.

The International Descent of the Sella is annually held on the first Saturday of August.
