Vans Triple Crown of Surfing 2023 in Hawaii

Hawaii's top surfing competition for the best surfers in the world

Dates: January 3–23, 2023 (over)

This fall surfing event is famous for its big waves up to 15 meters! It attracts the best surfers (men and women) in the world to Hawaii to compete for the prestigious title of World Champion.

Highlights

The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing is a three-part competition that takes place on the North Shore of Oahu at Haleiwa, Sunset, and Pipeline. The spectators can enjoy the high-class technique of the most talented professional surfers at this free event. This is the time when the North Shore of Oahu really livens up!

Over a month of competitive surfing brings three major events under one name: Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa, Oahu; Vans World Cup of Surfing at Sunset Beach, Oahu; and Billabong Pro Pipeline at Banzai Pipeline, Oahu.

Event Status

The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, once held on Oahu's North Shore, was discontinued after 2019. Following the success of the 2020 event, where the VTCS winners were determined by video submissions instead of the traditional points system across three events (Sunset, Haleiwa, and Pipe), Vans has decided to move away from the traditional competition format. In its place, the World Surf League (WSL) now organizes individual events at the same iconic locations. These events are part of the WSL's Qualifying Series and Championship Tour, continuing the North Shore's legacy as a premier surfing destination.
