Oi Rio Pro 2024 in Rio de Janeiro

A great surfing gathering and a presigious competition

Dates: June 22-30, 2024

Oi Rio Pro is an event on the ASP World Surfing Tour that takes place every May at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The competition is one of the stops on the Men’s Surfing Championship Tour. The tournament is usually held in beach break conditions with small waves. It draws many top Brazilian surfers like Gabriel Medina, Adriano De Souza, and Filipe Toledo, as well as vast crowds of hundreds of thousands of spectators.

Saqaurema, where Oi Rio Pro takes place, is located 73 km east of Rio de Janeiro. It is famous for Barrinha and Itaúna beaches, often called the Brazilian capital of surfing for nearly ideal "thick" waves and scenic beauty. Top surfers praise its green-watered barrels, tubes, and bowls. The atmosphere in Saquarema reminds of beach parties of the 1970s and 1980s. Since 2017, Saquarema has become included into the world surfing circuit by World Surfing League.
