Surf Ranch is a unique and infamous wave pool located in Lemoore, a farming town in California's central San Joaquin Valley, not far from Fresno. Every September it hosts the Surf Ranch Pro, a tournament for male and female surfers, featuring the best wave riders of the world. The success of this competition has already started a rumour that major World Surf League events and even Olympics may be held in a wave pool in the future.
The Surf Ranch was created by a legendary surfer Kelly Slater. The 155-acre (62 ha) compound has become a dedicated space for surfers that is designed to host up to six championships per year and be a great location for surf lessons in between.
